Project Spotlight: Ferrari Dealership | Prancing Horse of Nashville

Nashville Ferrari Dealership Building

In the world of high-end cars, Ferrari stands as a symbol of luxury, performance, and precision. When the carmaker decided to bring their iconic brand to Nashville, they needed a facility that would reflect their high-end quality standards and brand prestige. Crain Construction’s proven expertise and commitment to quality for over 90 years made the company the ideal choice for bringing Ferrari’s vision to life. The end result is a state-of-the-art Ferrari dealership that is as much a destination as it is a showroom.

“The success of this project was due to Crain’s high level of attentiveness and willingness to go the extra mile.” – Sandra Finizia & Christopher Miele DMG, Owners Representative (Ferrari)

From Vision To Reality

Located near BNA Hilton (another high-profile project by Crain), the luxury dealership—officially known as Prancing Horse of Nashville—spans an impressive 43,339 square feet. The facility includes a 31,558-square-foot first floor housing the showroom, offices, customer areas, a service shop, and inventory storage. The second floor features additional showroom space, an event center, and a lounge.

A large arched roofline defines the exterior, while the interior boasts striking features like red glass walls in the showroom and a glass floor on the second level that allows visitors to view the undercarriages of the vehicles as they enter the dealership.

Early involvement in the design phase allowed Crain Construction to provide a preliminary budget and input on value engineering efforts, ensuring that every detail aligned with Ferrari’s brand standards and expectations. Throughout the project, Crain collaborated closely with Ferrari’s representatives and the design team to ensure every detail, from the iconic prancing horse logo to the sophisticated finishes, was executed to perfection.

Supply Chain Solutions: Innovation in Action

Construction began in June 2021, during a time when global supply chain disruptions were at their peak. High-end finishes were sourced from around the world for this project, including tile and furnishings from Italy, specialty glass from Spain, and lighting features from France. However, these materials faced significant delays, particularly the specialized electrical switchgear, which threatened to derail the project’s schedule.

To mitigate these challenges, Crain Construction implemented a series of innovative logistical contingency plans. The team secured dedicated shipping containers, booked multiple ship dates from various ports, and expedited ground delivery directly to the job site. Additionally, Crain worked closely with their electrical trade partners and the design team to integrate an alternative switchgear design, ensuring the project remained on schedule. Crain’s flexibility and foresight allowed the team to deliver on time without compromising quality.

“One thing I’m most proud of on this project is the high-quality finishes and innovative interior. Our team worked hard to coordinate the installation of materials from around the world. In many ways, it felt like we were building a museum where the cars are the art. That’s something I’ll always be proud to remember.”

– Jeff Kurzhal, Crain Project Manager

A Trusted Partner in Luxury

The Ferrari dealership project provided Crain Construction with invaluable lessons in supply chain management and underlined the importance of maintaining clear communication throughout a project. Many of these insights continue to be incorporated into Crain’s strategies and best practices.

The client’s satisfaction with the project was evident—they expressed interest in having Crain take on their next dealership project in Florida. This success has also bolstered Crain’s reputation, leading to new opportunities and recommendations from the design team at PRAXIS 3 Architects.
