NASHVILLE, Tenn.Crain Construction Inc. is relocating its offices to a Sidco Drive warehouse the general contractor built in 1959 and recently renovated.

On March 25, the general contractor will move into its new headquarters at 2963 Sidco Drive, Suite 110.

Crain Construction has renovated the warehouse in several phases. It recently completed a 20,000-square-foot build out for c3/consulting and then 7,000 square feet of space for its new home. The warehouse to office conversion is one of the many adaptive reuse projects Crain Construction has completed as the corridor continues to transition to accommodate office and retail tenants.

“We’ve spent a lot of time in the 100 Oaks area, having built or renovated about two dozen structures there,” said Michael Rankin, president of Crain Construction. “During our build out for c3, it became apparent the unused space in that building would perfectly accommodate our expanding staff.”

The new office space is about 10 percent larger than Crain Construction’s current office of 32 years, which is located less than a mile away on Winford Avenue.

Above the entrance to its new headquarters, the company’s signature logo of two cranes (birds, not equipment) adorns a high wall visible from the road.

STG Design was the architecture firm for the new office space which has exposed ceilings, high-end finishes and original warehouse floors made of river gravel and river sand that have been preserved and polished.

The interior features light gray and white walls, 26 glass-front offices, two adaptable meeting rooms, two smaller “huddle rooms,” a breakroom/kitchen and a game room. “White noise” technology is installed throughout.

“Our team is excited about the move and has visited the site on a regular basis to check on the progress,” said Rankin. “We’re incredibly fortunate to make our new home in a structure we built 58 years ago and have adapted to meet the needs we have today.”

Established in 1933, Crain Construction ( provides design/build, sustainable construction, construction management and general contracting services throughout the Southeast.
