Giving Back to Nashville: How Crain Construction Gets Involved in the Community

One Generation Away smiling volunteer

Crain Construction was built on a foundation of prioritizing people over profits and community over competition.

While this has obvious implications for how we work alongside clients during a construction project, it also impacts the way we serve those around us. Giving back isn’t just something we do, it’s part of who we are.

In recent years, our employees have volunteered hours to rebuild homes so seniors can age in place, served meals to the homeless, walked for charitable causes, and supported nonprofits working to improve the quality of life for all Middle Tennesseans.

Highlights from Our Community Involvement Around Nashville

Many of our employees have brought their personal passions or causes to the attention of the rest of the team. Over the years, we have developed an ongoing commitment to giving back to these organizations and created annual service opportunities with the following organizations:

  • Second Harvest Foodbank of Middle TN — Second Harvest is one of the largest and most comprehensive food banks and distribution centers in the country. Each year, our team volunteers to prepare and pack food. The famous Rib Off competition has also become one of our favorite ways to support the work of Second Harvest. Here are some highlights from our visit to Second Harvest last year.

  • One Generation Away — OneGenAway is a national nonprofit that seeks to eliminate food insecurity by bringing healthy food to people in need. Each year, we volunteer and donate to the Mobile Food Pantry, helping further its mission of distributing healthy foods to families who do not have access to it due to economic, social, or physical barriers. Here are a few Crain team members serving at OneGenAway’s mobile pantry.

  • American Heart Walk — The American Heart Association hosts a heart walk in Nashville annually to raise millions of dollars for the organization. Each year, our team laces up our shoes to raise sponsorships for the walk. Here’s our crew enjoying comradery, exercise, and raising money during last year’s Heart Walk.

  • Toys for Tots It is often more fun to give than to receive, especially when it comes to collecting toys for the annual Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. Each year, we partner with other companies in the Nashville Association of Builders& Contractors to collect gifts for children. Here’s our office during the holiday season.

Our value of serving others has influenced the way we’ve worked for nearly a century. It is both gratifying and fulfilling to use our construction skills and knowledge to help a Nashvillian who needs a helping hand. Our employees have made a huge impact by giving their time, energy, and resources over the past year.

We are proud of our community and grateful to be able to partner with such incredible organizations to impact the lives of our neighbors and friends.
