TEAMS COMPETE FOR 2016 RIB OFF CROWN, SUPPORT SECOND HARVEST

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The ribs were smoking, the smack talk was good natured and Elvis was in attendance as 10 corporate teams from the real estate and construction industry competed for the Crain Construction, Inc. 2016 Nashville Rib Off crown.

Judges declared Notorious P-I-G (NAI Nashville) the winner in the rib category and Porknership 2020 (Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce) won the wing competition. Southeast Venture won best uniform for its Elvis lookalikes gathered around a hog head-decorated cooker slathering secret sauce and wearing white jumpsuits, sunglasses and sideburns.

But the real winner of the day-long competition and festivities was Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee which receives all proceeds in honor of the winning teams that competed in the October 21 competition at the Nashville Gun Club.

“There’s nothing better than a friendly barbecue competition on a beautiful fall day to benefit a favorite nonprofit,” said Lizabeth Theiss, barbecue grandmaster and vice president of business development for Crain Construction.

In the rib category, Dukes of Hazard (Duke Realty) won second place, and Love & Tender Ribs (CBRE) took third place. Secondhand Smoke (JP Morgan Chase) placed second in the wing category and Notorious P-I-G (NAI Nashville) won third place.

Other teams participating in the competition included Sloppy Seconds (Avison & Young), The PIG Lebowski (JLL Nashville), Burning Love (Southeast Venture), Smokin’ Hot Bass (Bass Berry & Sims) and gresHAM (Gresham Smith & Partners).

Judges for the 2016 Nashville Rib Off were chef Mark Rubin, sports broadcaster Joe Dubin, TV personality Cassie Chapman, singer/songwriter Gary Chapman, comedian Reno Collier and real estate appraiser Bill Cary.

This is the third year Crain Construction has coordinated and sponsored the event to benefit Second Harvest.
