CRAIN TEAMS WITH CHARTWELL FOR FRANKLIN MIXED-USE PROJECT

FRANKLIN, Tenn.Crain Construction Inc. and Chartwell Hospitality LLC are teaming to build a mixed-use project in downtown Franklin, Tenn., called 1st and Main.

This marks the second time the two companies have worked together on a Williamson County project. Crain Construction is general contractor for Chartwell’s 244-room Hilton Hotel in Cool Springs opening this summer. The hotel was designed by Rabun Architects, which has also designed 1stand Main.

Located at 99 E. Main Street, 1stand Main will be a slender, two-story brick building designed to match the style and scale of downtown Franklin. It will include approximately 36,000 square feet of commercial space with retail, office space and a restaurant. The first-floor restaurant will feature an outdoor terrace overlooking the Harpeth River.

“The project includes establishing a portion of the city’s river path on the site,” said Jared Snider with Rabun Architects. “The path will provide connection to the future trails identified in Franklin’s greenways master plan.”

The City of Franklin now requires developers to build a portion of the greenway on their property. 1stand Main is the first development project to include a path under the new requirement.

“We appreciate the trust Chartwell Hospitality places in us and look forward to successfully completing another Williamson County project with them and Rabun Architects,” said Michael Rankin, president and CEO of Crain Construction.

Parking for 1stand Main corner site will be shared with an adjacent bank.

The structure that previously housed Dotson’s Restaurant for years, and most recently Metro Spy Supply, has been demolished and construction is underway on the new two-story building.
