11 Nov 2015 Rib Off Benefits Second Harvest
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — After the smoke cleared at the annual Crain Construction 2015 Nashville Rib Off, Silence of the Hams (Southeast Venture) was declared the winner of the ribs category and Deez Wings (NAI Nashville) took first place in the wing division.
“It was a smoke-filled, finger-licking day of friendly competition to benefit Second Harvest,” said Lizabeth Theiss, barbecue grandmaster and vice president of business development for Crain Construction.
Eleven corporate teams competed in the day-long barbecue competition and festivities held Oct. 23 at the Nashville Gun Club. But the real winner was Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee which receives all proceeds in honor of the winning teams.
Other rib winners were Sloppy Seconds (Avison & Young) with second place and Just Lovin Lard (Jones Lang LaSalle) taking third place. In the wing category, Porknership 2020 (Nashville Chamber) placed second and Avenue Porkers (Avenue Bank) took third place.
Judges for the competition were Chris Barrett, president of Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Inc.; Gary Chapman, producer and singer/songwriter; Cassie Chapman, star of Private Lives of Nashville Wives; Cory Curtis, News Channel 2 sports broadcaster; Mark Rubin, chef for Second Harvest Food Bank; and George Teren, songwriter.
Other teams participating in the competition included Porks & Recreation (Colliers International), Swine Wars (CRBR), The Dukes of Hazzard (Duke Realty), Wing Me (Gresham Smith & Partners), MJM Porkitects (MJM Architects).
